Every body is different. And the needs of your body change from day to day and season to season.
There are general recommendations for dietary changes as the season changes. In TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine), the fall is a season when the yang of summer begins to transform to the yin of winter. It is a time when the cold begins to open opportunities for having those warm drinks and taking those warm baths. And general recommendations are to have a diet of warm foods. This includes both physical heat (cooked foods - the slower the cooking process the better) and energetic heat of the foods. Foods such as lamb, trout, garlic, ginger, basil, oats, pumpkin, squash, or walnuts have a warm energetic property and are generally good foods to have during this time.
But this depends on your body. If you are having hot flashes, or sweating while you sleep at night, or your body general feels really hot, especially on your extremities or chest area, then this isn't the right recommendation for you.
In TCM, one size never fits all. Your dietary recommendation, and acupuncture treatment, is dependent on the cumulative whole of your body, its unique system, and its unique symptoms. This collectively information is what will inform your Registered Acupuncturist to tailor your acupuncture treatment and your dietary recommendations specifically for your immune system to thrive.
